Students at Subhash Excellence School experience historical sites through a 360-degree VR experience.
Bhopal: Students in government schools across the state will now be
introduced to Madhya Pradesh’s rich heritage through Virtual Reality (VR) technology.
Under the new education policy, the Archaeology Department has launched the “Education Through Virtual
Reality” initiative through remote VR stations in schools.
The initiative was launched on Tuesday at Subhash Excellence School in the capital city. On Wednesday,
students of Eklavya Adarsh Residential School in Babdiya Kala were also given a virtual tour of historical
buildings through VR stations.
By wearing VR headsets, students experienced hyper-realistic views that made them feel as if they were
physically present at the locations.
Through approximately 10-minute videos, they explored sites such as Bhimbetka, Sanchi Stupa, Mandu monument
complex and Orchha monument complex.
A Class 12 student from Eklavya Vidyalaya, Neelesh Kumar, said that through this technology,
he could experience the atmosphere and beauty of places very closely. He said that seeing and understanding
historical locations without physically travelling there was a unique experience.
This initiative helps children understand VR technology, which can take them to places they may not otherwise be able to visit. Students have limited time and many subjects to learn; therefore, the department aims to extend this facility to as many government schools in the state as possible in the coming months, so every student can benefit from VR-based education.

The initiative has been introduced to promote experiential education in schools across the state. While education received through books can sometimes feel dull, learning through AR-VR in an engaging manner creates a deeper impact on students’ minds and keeps their curiosity alive.
