But it is also a popular weekend getaway for nature lovers. Located approximately 50 km from Pune, this area is the perfect mix of tranquillity and adventure, making it a must-visit destination…
Overview
Mulshi Lake, formed by the dam, is surrounded by dense forests, hills, and a blanket of greenery during the monsoon season. The dam is primarily used for irrigation and electricity generation but has now evolved into a key tourist attraction. The lake’s tranquil blue waters against the backdrop of rolling hills make it an ideal destination for relaxation.
The Scenic Drive
The drive to Mulshi is an experience in itself. Winding roads flanked by lush greenery and vibrant wildflowers create a picturesque setting. As I approached the lake, the sight of the shimmering waters against the backdrop of rolling hills took my breath away. The tranquil ambiance instantly washed away the stress of city life.
A Moment of Reflection
When I got there, a good place to settle down would be by the water edge and just look at the scenery and marvel at the natural endowment. The lake is situated amidst thick foliage and lofty mountains which make the place ideal for thinking bout one’s self. I turned my back to the flame and shut my eyes, hearing only the sound of the water splashing, and the wind blowing the leaves. It was just stillness at its finest.
Adventurous Spirit
I started wandering around the neighbourhood. We also chose to hire a small kayak to go on the water to photograph from a distance from the water. It was such a fun time! Cruising on the water made me feel I am actually a part of the landscape and the lake is absolutely gorgeous from the waterline. With every paddle stroke the shape of the surrounding hills and forest changed to some new aspect.
Sunset Magic
I promised myself I wouldn’t return till I get the shot, I realized as the day was going on I mustn’t fail to capture the sunset. I got the right spot on the top of a big stone. When the sun sets it paints the skies with the orange, pink and purple colours. It made me glad to see such a moment and the core experience taught me how nature always calms the spirit within.
Culinary Delights
The next time I went there after sunset I opted for a local cuisine restaurant nearby. It was great enjoying a warm meal and doing it while overlooking the lake with the stars shining brightly in the sky. The touch of the local spices in food compounded the whole eating experience.
A Retreat to Remember
As I drove back home, my heart was full. Mulshi Lake had offered me not just stunning views, but a chance to reconnect with nature and myself. It’s a place where time slows down, and the beauty of the surroundings encourages you to reflect and recharge. I left with cherished memories and a promise to return soon.
